The forward has had to be patient since making a €17 million move from PSV Eindhoven to Brighton in January with an injury keeping him sidelined.
However, Locadia was named in the starting line-up for the visit of Coventry City in the FA Cup along with fellow Dutchmen Tim Krul and Davy Propper.
After only five minutes, Locadia shot against the woodwork, but soon afterwards opened the scoring by sweeping in an Anthony Knockaert cross.Locadia could have had more goals before he was substituted on 75 minutes but missed two good chances. Propper was substituted just after half-time, while Krul had a day to forget as the goalkeeper went off injured.
Brighton now go on to the quarter-finals.
