After Sunday’s 5-2 defeat to Feyenoord, Dwight Lodeweges was involved in a meeting with the technical staff on Tuesday and decided he has no future with the club.
The 57-year-old left fellow Frisian side Cambuur for Heerenveen last season and guided the club to 7th place and the final of the European play-offs.
However after a summer of player departures including top scorer Mark Uth and captain Marten de Roon, this season has been a struggle and Lodeweges leaves with the club currently 15th.
