The 23-year-old was in the Feyenoord starting lineup for the first five Eredivisie games of the title winning 2016/2017 season but fell behind the pecking order as Giovanni van Bronckhorst decided to play Terrance Kongolo or Miquel Nelom in his place.
With the arrival of Ridgeciano Haps from AZ Alkmaar this summer, there was no future for Woudenberg in Rotterdam and he will now join up with former Feyenoord teammate Warner Hahn at Heerenveen.
Heerenveen technical manager Gerry Hamstra told the club’s official site, “We are glad that we can add an additional defender to the selection with Lucas’s arrival. We bring in a good Dutch defender who fits well with our play. He enjoyed a good education at Feyenoord and also gained much experience from Excelsior and NEC.”
Woudenberg made 14 first team appearances for Feyenoord, while also spending time on loan with both NEC Nijmegen and Excelsior.
