Lyon coach Brune Genesio was impressed with Memphis Depay’s performance in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Dijon.

The winger missed two good chances in the first half but raised his game after the break as Lyon came from 2-1 down to record a victory. Memphis assisted the equaliser and constantly drove his side forward towards the end as Lyon netted three times in the last ten minutes.

Speaking to French media after the game, Genesio said Memphis was only missing a goal from his performance, “A goal would have been a perfect performance.

“We’ve seen him show his athletic abilities. He made a difference in one-on-one duels and furthermore played well for his teammates.”

Memphis was criticised early in his time with Lyon after a poor performance against Saint-Etienne but it appears the former Manchester United forward is starting to win over fans in France.
