The winger last scored for Lyon back in November and started Sunday’s clash with Monaco on the bench but came on in the 40th minute when Martin Terrier went down injured.
In the 70th minute, Lyon earned a penalty which Memphis took but his low shot was kept out by Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic. It is now 22 hours since the winger last found the net.
After the game, Lyon boss Bruno Genesio said on the Dutchman, “His entrance was interesting. It is up to us to support and help him. We have done that before with Nabil Fekir.”
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas took to Twitter to show his displeasure at some of his players, “Some players play far below their level. Those thinking to make a big transfer after this season are wrong. We need to talk less and show more. ”
He did not name names but Memphis has been open about his desire to join a bigger club in the summer.
Memphis took to Twitter as well to voice his disappointment.
