Maas was named as the caretaker boss when Peter Bosz left for Maccabi tel Aviv earlier this month, but Vitesse have now announced that he will coach the club until the season ends.
The former RKC Walwijk, Feyenoord and Hertha Berlin star retired from playing in 2009, with the 46-year-old named as the Vitesse assistant coach in 2014.
Former coach Peter Bosz told VI that Maas was the logical choice to succeed him, “In my eyes, it would be pretty stupid if they did not go with Rob. Mark my words, this will be a very good head coach.”
Maas’s first game will be the away tie against Cambuur.
