Algemeen Dagblad is reporting that Adam Maher has decided not to extend his contract with AZ Alkmaar and will leave on a free transfer.

The midfielder returned to Alkmaar last summer on a one-year deal after his contract with PSV Eindhoven expired. Maher had an excellent campaign at the AFAS Stadion and the club were hoping to keep the 26-year-old.

However, AD is reporting that Maher has told AZ Alkmaar that he will not be signing a new deal. The club is said to be very disappointed with this news as they were expecting an agreement.

Maher will now be free to find a new club. Feyenoord have been recently linked with a move for the Dutch international.
