Adam Maher has left FC Utrecht for a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabian side Damac FC.

Maher has been with Utrecht for three years and made 91 appearances for the club, but he indicated that he was open to a move this summer.

Utrecht wanted to keep the midfielder but they have received €1.8 million from Saudi side Damac FC. Utrecht director Jordy Zuidam told the club website, “We wish Adam every success in Saudi Arabia and thank him for his commitment to FC Utrecht.”

Maher made a name for himself at AZ Alkmaar before moving to PSV Eindhoven. After a loan spell with Osmanlispor, Maher had spells with Twente and AZ Alkmaar again before he joined Utrecht in 2019.

The 28-year-old has five caps for the Netherlands national team.
