Donyell Malen scored twice as PSV Eindhoven defeated ten-man FC Twente 3-0.

After the 3-1 loss to Feyenoord last week, PSV were hoping to get their title challenge back on track. Mohamed Ihattaren returned to the starting eleven in place of Ryan Thomas.

The home side started on top but it took until the 30th minute for PSV to break the deadlock. A Eran Zahavi cross was only palmed into the path of Malen by Joel Drommel and the striker had a tap-in.

Six minutes later it was 2-0 with Denzel Dumfries bursting through before crossing to Zahavi to put the ball past Drommel and into the net.

Eight minutes into the second half, PSV added a third as Malen showed quick feet in the box before hammering the ball past Drommel.

With fifteen minutes to go, Twente were reduced to ten men with Luka Ilic shown a red card for a late tackle on Zahavi.

Malen should have had a hat-trick before the end but the striker’s close range effort was brilliantly saved by Drommel.

The victory moves PSV back to within four points of Ajax, while Twente are down in seventh.
