Van Gaal was expected to be officially confirmed as David Moyes replacement on Thursday, after meeting with Ryan Giggs and United vice chairman Ed Woodward on Wednesday. However it seems the announcement, which has been expected for weeks, has been delayed once again.
The Telegraph are reporting that there are still some contract issues that have to be ironed out, while United are also allowing Van Gaal to concentrate on the preparations for Saturday’s Netherlands friendly with Ecuador.
The Premier League club are trying not to disturb Netherlands World Cup preparations, but the longer the deal is dragged on, the more intrusive it will become. After the game with Ecuador, Netherlands will travel to Portugal for a seven day training camp between the 20th and the 27th.
That gives Manchester United three days to announce the deal, between Ecuador friendly and Portugal camp.
