Ajax’s season officially gets underway on Wednesday as Ajax face a difficult trip to Nice, who finished third in Ligue 1 last season. Coach Marcel Keizer has stated his squad are ready for the game, despite the club being rocked by the news that Abdelhak Nouri suffered brain damage during a friendly earlier this month.

Keizer said, ”I believe that we are ready tomorrow for the Champions League match against Nice. As regards to the situation surrounding the game I have spoken with people who have experienced similar situations. We have also spoken with the players and as backroom staff too.”

”Appie Nouri’s family are the first to be made aware of any developments and rightly so. Ajax are made aware after the family. We speak about Appie Nouri everyday and that will remain the case.”

Keizer also confirmed that he had visited Appie Nouri and stated the following, ”You try to give as much support to the family as possible ”.
