Marco van Ginkel believes he is returning to the Eredivisie a much better player after signing for PSV Eindhoven on loan from Chelsea on deadline day.

The 23-year-old has struggled to settle since leaving Vitesse Arnhem back in 2013, with injuries hampering his first season at Chelsea, while loan spells with AC Milan and Stoke City haven’t worked. On Monday, Van Ginkel signed for PSV until the end of the season, and the midfielder revealed that a move back to Netherlands has been on the cards for a while.
Van Ginkel told NOS,”I have known about a potential move back to the Netherlands for some time. I do not think the press expected that PSV would sign a player like me on the last day of the transfer window.”
PSV tried to secure the services of Marco van Ginkel last summer but the player himself was unsure about the move and his club Chelsea wanted him to remain in the Premier League. However, Van Ginkel appears to be delighted to be back in the Netherlands, “I am really looking forward to getting started. I believe that I can give the team something extra.”
During his unveiling van Ginkel was asked by Dutch press if he had changed during his time abroad. “Of course I have changed and I have been able to play for great clubs and I have matured and become a better player.
“You could also say that this step is like a new start in my career, but I also consider my time abroad to have been a success playing for AC Milan and many Premier League games for Stoke City.”
“For myself I want to play regulary and show what I can do and I am confident of achieving good things with PSV.”
Van Ginkel could make his PSV debut this Thursday in the KNVB Cup Quarter Final against Utrecht.
