Three goals in the opening 22 minutes helped Excelsior to a 3-1 win over Heracles in Rotterdam.

Heracles tried to find a way back into the game but Tom Muyters kept them at bay early in the second half before Vincent Vermeij eventually netted a consolation on the rebound. The win puts Excelsior up to fifth while Heracles drop to 11th.
