Two goals from Kévin Mayi earned NEC Nijmegen a 2-2 draw with Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer.

mayiFor the first time in Eredivisie history, a team began a match without a single Dutchman in their line-up, with NEC’s starting eleven consisting of eight different nationalities. It was Frenchman Kevin Mayi who made the biggest impression in the first half, giving his side the lead on 34 minutes after racing through one-on-one with Theo Zwarthoed.

However, four minutes into the second half Go Ahead equalised through Sander Duits who found the net with a strike from outside the box and just before the hour mark Henrik Ojamaa put the home side ahead.  Go Ahead’s joy was short-lived, though, as Mayi earned his side a point with his second goal of the game on 66 minutes.

NEC earn their second point of the season, while Go Ahead Eagles are on the board after recovering from their defeat to ADO Den Haag last week.
