Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong both provided assists as Barcelona opened their league campaign with a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad.

Ronald Koeman was able to start with both Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong for the opening league game. Memphis was registered in time while De Jong returned from an injury.

After 19 minutes, Memphis put a free-kick right on the head of Gerard Pique, who netted the opening goal. Before the break, it was 2-0 with De Jong crossing for Martin Braithwaite to add a second.

Memphis came close to scoring himself and he also played a role in the third goal on the hour mark as he passed to Jordi Alba, who crossed for Braithwaite to net again.

Real Sociedad pulled two goals back through Julen Lobete and Mikel Oyarzabal but Sergi Roberto sealed the victory in the 91st minute.

Koeman’s side are off to a good start as they begin life without Lionel Messi.
