Lyon have reached the Champions League last eight despite a 2-1 loss to Juventus on Friday. Memphis Depay played a key role in the game.

Lyon headed to Turin with a slender 1-0 lead from the first-leg but this time they were able to start with Memphis Depay up front. He faced Matthijs de Ligt, who was in the Juventus backline.

In the 12th minute, Lyon were awarded a penalty for a foul on Houssem Aouar. Memphis took it and cheekily fired a Panenka past Wojciech Szczesny to give Lyon a crucial away goal.

Just before the break, Juventus were awarded a penalty for a very unfortunate decision against Memphis. A free-kick by Miralem Pjanic struck the Dutchman unintentionally on the arm, but a penalty was given. Cristiano Ronaldo scored to make it 1-1.

Ronaldo then gave Juventus the lead on the hour mark before Memphis was substituted. Despite pouring forward, Juventus could not find the crucial third goal and Lyon held on to advance via away goals.

Lyon will now face Manchester City in the last eight after they defeated Real Madrid.
