Lyon, who began with Memphis on the left of an attack which featured fit-again Alexandre Lacazette, started slowly and fell behind on nineteen minutes when Valentin Rongier fired into the bottom corner.

It took until the second half for Lyon to respond with Nabil Fekir equalising from the spot. Memphis then led Lyon to victory with two assists, both times to Maxwell Cornet to seal the win for Lyon. The first was a corner which landed at Cornet’s feet before Memphis set up the midfielder again with a flicked header.

Memphis now has six assists and five goals for Lyon since joining from Manchester United in January. Lyon will next be in action on Thursday when they try to overturn a 4-1 deficit to Ajax but Memphis will once again be cup tied.
