Memphis Depay scored the crucial goal as Lyon drew 2-2 against RB Leipzig to seal their place in the Champions League last 16.

With RB Leipzig already assured of a place in the next round, Lyon knew a win would take them through as group winners, while a draw would be enough should results go their way in Benfica v Zenit.

Emil Forsberg gave the German side an early lead from the penalty spot after a foul by goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. Then before the break, Timo Werner netted another penalty.

Lyon seemed to be heading out but in the second half, Houssem Aouar gave them hope by pulling one goal back.

Memphis Depay, once again wearing the captains armband, missed a great chance to equalise but with eight minutes left, the Dutch international scored the crucial equaliser. He swivelled in the box before finding the bottom corner.

The game ended 2-2 and with Benfica beating Zenit 3-0, Lyon sealed their place in the next round.
