Memphis Depay was present at demonstrations against racism in both Amsterdam and Rotterdam over the past few days.

After the killing of George Floyd in America, protests were held against racism in Amsterdam on Monday and in Rotterdam on Wednesday. Memphis Depay was present at both demonstrations.

Speaking to Beau on RTL4, Memphis said, “I see what is happening in the world and in the Netherlands. I experience it myself since I was little and I also have many friends in America. Now I see that all kinds of people are rebelling, because black lives matter.

“I felt in my heart that I had to be there. It is time for rebellion with us. Some things get snowed under. I have an exemplary role and have also had to deal with many painful things. Recently they called me another banana picker. Not face-to-face, but on the internet. It’s done, we shouldn’t accept it anymore. We will continue now. “
