The Lyon forward made his Netherlands debut back in October 2013 and has since become a key part of Ronald Koeman’s side.
On Monday evening, Memphis Depay will earn his 50th cap as Netherlands face Estonia in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
Speaking at the press conference on Sunday, Memphis said, “I have experienced a lot with the Dutch national team.
“My fiftieth international match is a moment to be proud of. I have become important for the team and as a team we are growing. I see a good, positive development.
“We now have a different generation than we are used to in our country, but I like to see that. Boys feel free and I am happy with that. The way we play is clear, the coach makes clear what he expects from us. The team spirit has become much better. The results are of course also better and that has a positive effect. ”
