Memphis Depay has said he is happy to remain at Lyon until the end of the season but wouldn’t rule out a move to Barcelona in January.

The forward nearly joined Barcelona before the deadline earlier this month but La Liga blocked the deal due to the Catalan sides wage budget.

Speaking at a pre-game press conference, the Netherlands international said he wants to put the transfer stories behind him now and just focus on Lyon.

He said, “I am very proud to be a player and captain of Lyon. I think there have been a lot of misunderstandings, there was a lot of incorrect reporting. There was interest, but I’m here now. It is now behind us, I am looking at the present.”

Memphis has a contract with Lyon until the end of the season and he is happy to see it out. However, should Barcelona return as expected in January he could leave.

Memphis said, “I can’t determine the future, God does. I am just happy. I got some peace of mind after the market closed. I showed myself in the international matches. Life goes on and I always come back. The fact that clubs are interested in me gives me strength. I can become a fantastic and better player at Olympique Lyon.
