PSV wanted to buy Andres Guardado back in 2007 when the player was at Atlas, and although the deal was almost done, it got canceled at the last minute, and he ended up at Deportivo. However it seems PSV have finally got their man, after Valencia made it clear the midfielder could leave the club on loan to the Eredivisie leaders.
Guardado will undergo his medical on Monday before signing his contract for the rest of the season, and if all goes well, the Mexican can make his debut this weekend against Vitesse Arnhem.
The 27-year-old, signed for Valencia in 2012, and has made 48 league appearances for the club, scoring only once, while he went on loan to Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga last season, but only played four times.
Guardado has played 108 times for the Mexican national team and featured against his new teammates Georgino Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay at the World Cup this summer, when Netherlands triumphed 2-1.
A seasoned leader could be exactly what PSV need to tie up that squad.
