Norwegian midfielder Fredrik Midtsjo has extended his contract with AZ Alkmaar until 2023.

Midtsjo has become a key player in the AZ Alkmaar midfield since joining from Rosenborg back in 2017.

Talks over extending his current deal, which ran until 2022, had been ongoing for weeks and finally, there has been an agreement. Midtsjo has now extended his contract by a year.

AZ director Max Huiberts told the club’s website, “Fredrik is of course a very important pawn for us. So this is great news. His development has gone very fast. He has become indispensable since his arrival. He has shown that when he is not there, we miss him. He gives a lot of energy to the team.”

The 26-year-old has made 113 appearances for AZ, scoring five goals and giving 17 assists.
