The Serie A side were on the lookout for a new striker after selling Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus and have paid Ajax over €30 million to take Milik to Naples. The Polish international underwent his medical over the weekend and the club presented their new signing before Monday night’s friendly with French club Nice.
On the website of his management, a statement from Milik read, “It is an honor to be part of Napoli, with their amazing fans full of passion, a great club with a fantastic history. I want to make these fantastic fans happy. I will do my best so that together we can have a wonderful time, ”
Milik was originally signed by Ajax on loan from German side Bayer Leverkusen, but they made the deal permanent last summer for around €2.8 million. In the past two years the forward scored 47 times in 75 official matches for Ajax. The €30 million received for Milik is a record for the club, with the next highest transfer fee the €27 million received from Real Madrid for Wesley Sneijder.
Peter Bosz will now look to reinvest the money received with Mario Balotelli and Mario Gomez two of the strikers linked to Amsterdam in the past few days.
