Eredivisie 2006/07 final day – Who wins the title out of AZ, Ajax and PSV?

AZ needed to beat Excelsior on the final day of the 2006/07 Eredivisie season to win the league for what would have been only the second time in their history. Except it wasn’t quite that simple, with Ajax and PSV also on 72 points going into the final day of the campaign. AZ had the better goal difference upon kick-off, but the final positions of the top three were still far from decided, with Ajax needing to win handsomely against Willem II and PSV by an even greater margin of victory against Vitesse to stand any chance of the title. What unfolded was quite spectacular.
