PEC Zwolle have finally earned their first league win of the season after they came from behind to beat ADO Den Haag 2-1.

pec-ado-ddRon Jans side went into the game rock bottom of the Eredivisie and without a win in their opening seven games. However, ADO Den Haag also arrived looking to turn around poor form having lost three games on the bounce.

The first half was understandably a cagey affair with two sides lacking confidence and only one chance was created with Anass Achabar failing to punish a mistake by Ernestas Setkus, who dropped the ball at the strikers feet.

Two minutes into the second half it was ADO Den Haag who took the lead, with Ruben Schaken’s cross finding Mike Havenaar, who laid the ball back for Tom Trybull to fire into the net from the edge of the box. However, that lead only lasted a few minutes before Younes Mokhtar took a pass from Danny Holla before sending a strike into the top corner via a deflection.

With twenty minutes left, Mokhtar sent the home side into raptures as he put PEC Zwolle ahead with a fierce finish from a tight angle. PEC Zwolle’s night was then made easier with ADO Den Haag goalscorer Trybull seeing red just before the end and the hosts held on to earn their first victory.

The win lifts PEC Zwolle off the bottom and above Roda JC, while ADO Den Haag sit 10th.
