Eindhovens Dagblad has poured cold water on claims that PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk de Jong is on the verge of joining Mexican side Monterrey.

Reports in Mexico on Friday night stated that Monterrey were close to agreeing a deal with De Jong and that it could be wrapped up within the next week.
Eindhovens Dagblad are now stating that there is interest from Mexico but no deal is close to being completed at this time.
De Jong is currently on holiday and will contemplate his future when he returns in a few weeks.
PSV wants to keep their top scorer for another year but the 28-year-old is open to another move abroad. Whether that is in Mexico seems unlikely given that De Jong is currently in Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad and a move to the America’s would probably end his time in Oranje.
