PEC Zwolle dominated the first half in Nijmegen and deservedly went into the break with a 2-0 lead. Centre back Trent Sainsbury opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a header from a free kick before Lars Veldwijk doubled the scoreline a minute before the break, with the striker taking advantage of a blunder by Wojcieh Golla.
The damage could have been even greater for the home side with Veldwijk sending a shot wide, Queensy Menig hitting the side netting and Sainsbury denied by the post.
NEC were handed a lifeline on 53 minutes when PEC goalkeeper Kevin Begois fumbled a corner into the path of Janio Bikel, who cut the scoreline to 2-1.
The goal gave NEC confidence and just after the hour mark Anthony Limbombe leveled the scores with a stunning curling strike into the top corner from just outside the box.
Both sides pushed for a late winner but in the end had to settle for a point, which keeps PEC Zwolle eighth and NEC 6th.
