Brood was appointed NEC Nijmegen coach last year and guided the club back to the Eredivisie after a season in the Eerste Divisie, but has now decided to leave along with his assistant Roy Hendriksen.
It is expected that Brood will soon be confirmed as Phillip Cocu’s new assistant at PSV, while Hendriksen is set to join Excelsior boss Marinus Dijkhuizen at English side Brentford.
A statement on NEC’s website read, “Despite the fact that Ruud Brood and Roy Hendriksen both had an ongoing contract for next season and NEC had retained the two trainers, they have indicated their willingness to leave independently.
“Ruud Brood and Roy Hendriksen let their contracts with NEC dissolve and are working on a new challenge. The club has reached an agreement with both coaches on appropriate financial compensation for their departure.”
“NEC is aware of the importance of the early completion of the technical staff. The club will do its best to present a new coach soon. “
