Christian Santos netted an 88th minute winner as NEC Nijmegen scraped a 1-0 win over Heracles Almelo.

NEC had been right in the mix for a top four finish, but the Nijmegen side had failed to win any of their last five games, seeing them slip to ninth.
Against Heracles, NEC dominated proceedings but failed to find the net in the first half as Navarone Foor and Joey Sleegers both went close. After the hour mark defender Dario Dumic’s header came back off the crossbar.
Heracles offered little but Wout Weghorst nearly stunned the home crowd as he nearly netted from close range, but Lucas Woudenberg cleared the goalbound shot.
With two minutes to go NEC finally got the goal their dominance deserved with Santos cleverly firing past Bram Castro.
The win puts NEC up to 7th, while Heracles drop to ninth.
