NEC Nijmegen recorded their seventh straight draw on Saturday evening. Excelsior struck late to make it 1-1 at the end.

Lasse Schone started the clash for NEC and broke the record for the most appearances by a foreign player in the Eredivisie. Schone’s side thought they had the lead in the first half when Magnus Mattsson scored but Dirk Proper had handled the ball and the goal was disallowed.

Just before the hour, NEC had the lead with Landry Dimata heading the ball past Stijn van Gassel.

Jasper Cillessen denied Couhaib Driouech the equaliser, but two minutes before the end, the Netherlands international was beaten. Lazaros Lamprou curled the ball past Cillessen to make it 1-1.

NEC are tenth after their seventh successive draw while Excelsior is 11th.
