Tomas Necid missed a penalty as ADO Den Haag and Vitesse Arnhem played out a 0-0 draw in the Hague.

Alan Pardew was hoping his side would bounce back from their crushing 4-0 defeat to Utrecht last weekend and claim their second home victory under his reign.

The start was even but after half-an-hour Vitesse were close to the opener with Riechedly Bazoer’s strike from the edge of the box hitting the post.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, ADO Den Haag were awarded a penalty but Remko Pasveer kept out Necid’s spot-kick and denied the striker on the rebound.

After the miss, neither side could claim a winner and settled for a point each.

Vitesse are sixth after the draw while ADO Den Haag are 17th.
