Ajax winger David Neres is on cloud nine at the moment after starring in the wins over Real Madrid and Fortuna Sittard, while also receiving his first call-up to the Brazilian national team.

The winger scored in the 4-1 win at Real Madrid and then netted a double as Fortuna Sittard were defeated 4-0 on Sunday. After an injury to Vinicius Junior, Neres also received a call-up to the Brazil national team for the first time.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Neres revealed that he didn’t pick up the phone twice to the Brazilian FA, “But after I had the same number between my WhatsApp messages and I saw who it was, I immediately called back”

It’s been a dream week for the youngster, who almost left Ajax in January for China, “It is unbelievable what happened this week. It is certainly my best week ever as a footballer.

“If I had gone to China in January. I might not have received this invitation. Whether I was disappointed? No, I play for Ajax and I had an ongoing contract here, I always do my best, and a lot has changed since then.”
