Netherlands once again left it late to seal a victory over Wales in a 3-2 victory. Michael Bell provides his player ratings for the Netherlands stars.

Jasper Cillessen 6/10: A few shaky moments with the ball at his feet and possibly could have done better for the first Wales goal. Didn’t have much to do all night but still conceded twice.

Hans Hateboer 5/10: Once again struggled in a Netherlands shirt and Oranje fans may say that is just far too common. A player that is maybe not for this level with Rick Karsdorp and Jeremie Frimpong waiting in the wings. Was hooked at half-time.

Tyrell Malacia 6/10: Was looking to impress in his home stadium and certainly showed glimpses of his quality. Will feel a bit unlucky to give away the penalty.

Jordan Teze 4.5/10: A sloppy ball loss in midfield gifted Wales their opening goal and killed Netherlands momentum. Hooked off at half-time.

Matthijs de Ligt 6/10: Johnson’s goal went through the legs of De Ligt, who didn’t stand up to the Wales attacker. The captain for the night put in a decent performance after that though and made some good challenges.

Bruno Martins Indi 6/10: Yellow-carded early on and looked a bit slow at times. However, he didn’t make any obvious errors in his first Netherlands start for years.

Teun Koopmeiners 6/10: Got a silly booking and once again struggled to have a huge impact on the midfield. Did play one lovely ball over the top in the second half.

Frenkie de Jong 7.5/10: Was the standout in midfield once again for Oranje, especially in the first half when he drove forward with the ball. A joy to watch as always.

Noa Lang 7.5/10: A very promising performance from the attacker, who got his goal and caused the Wales defence plenty of problems. Tired in the second half before being replaced.

Cody Gakpo 8/10: A strong performance from the PSV winger, who was direct and got at the Wales defence. Scored one and could have had more. This is the Gakpo we want to see in Oranje.

Vincent Janssen 6.5/10: Involved in both Netherlands goals in the first half and could have got one himself. Held the ball up well at times, but his touch did look a bit rusty at times. Still a positive showing and a move back to Europe is definitely a good idea for the striker.

Substitutes

Denzel Dumfries 6.5/10: A big upgrade on Hateboer, Dumfries improved things on the right but did mishit a few crosses. Player a major role in the winning goal with a great header into the box.

Stefan de Vrij 6/10: Solid for the most part after coming on but failed to launch Netherlands on a dangerous counter with two bad passes that gave the ball straight to Wales

Memphis Depay N/A: Match winner but not on the pitch long enough for a review

Steven Bergwijn N/A: Not on the pitch long enough for a review
