Mark Flekken 5.5/10: The Freiburg stopper came in for the injured Jasper Cillessen and once again looked shaky in Oranje. Could have done better for the Poland opener and didn’t look comfortable.
Denzel Dumfries 7/10: Got forward as much as possible on the right and he got the equaliser with a good strike. Always works hard and does his job well.
Daley Blind 5/10: Got an assist but this was a poor performance from the Ajax man who was caught out for the opener. A lack of pace is really an issue at times for the left-back.
Jurrien Timber 6.5/10: Came back into the starting eleven and he held his own without any major concerns. Some sloppy moments before he went off.
Stefan de Vrij 6.5/10: Solid at the back but does not have the commanding presence and ball distribution that Virgil van Dijk brings.
Nathan Ake 6/10: Lost some concentration for the Polish second goal but another solid game from Ake, who is looking to prove he is the man to hold onto the left hand side of midfield.
Frenkie de Jong 6/10: Not his best performance in Oranje as Poland played him out of the game in the first half. Improved in the second but didn’t have as much influence.
Steven Berghuis 5.5/10: His header led to Poland’s second goal and he was unable to make a real impact throughout the game. Not his finest performance and not a surprise he was substituted.
Davy Klaassen 6/10: Got Netherlands back into the game straight after the Poland second. He pops up in the right areas but didn’t provide enough influence in the midfield.
Steven Bergwijn 6/10: A lack of space at the back meant Bergwijn couldn’t influence the game as much as he would have wanted. He still caused some danger but could not net before being substituted.
Memphis Depay 5/10: A poor first half but improvement in the second. Memphis put his penalty against the crossbar and also saw a header brilliantly saved. Not his night, even though he was captain.
Substitutes
Cody Gakpo 6.5/10: Provided some direct running on the wing and created some chances before the end.
Teun Koopmeiners 5.5/10: Brought on for Berghuis but didn’t have an impact in the time he was on the pitch.
Jordan Teze 5.5/10: Didn’t have a big impression after coming on for Timber
Wout Weghorst N/A: Not on the pitch for long enough to be reviewed.
Flekken had his chance but he proved that he still number three after Bijlow and Cillecen. Memphis need to be more concentrated on the goal especially in injury time.
Why Janssen was not in the subs?
Aké is the key player. No credits as usual.
