According to Kees Jansma of Voetbal International, Netherlands player council has nominated Henk ten Cate to be the new head coach of the national team.

The players council of the national team consists of Virgil van Dijk, Kevin Strootman, Ryan Babel, Matthijs de Ligt and Daley Blind.
They have told the KNVB that they liked the approach that Ronald Koeman had with the national team and want a similar coach to take over. They have nominated Henk ten Cate forward as their choice.
Whether the KNVB listens is another matter with Louis van Gaal, and Frank de Boer the other names being nominated for the position.
The players council also praised Dwight Lodeweges for his approach during the international break.
Ten Cate has been linked with the national team before but eventually Dick Advocaat was appointed. He has been out of work since leaving Al-Ittihad in February.

Dear KNVB, Please hire anyone other than Louis van Gaal or Frank de Boer. These two are failures as coaches. Hire a fresh minded coach with new ideas.
With the exception of Ajax, yes Frank de Boer’s career could be considered a failure. He hasn’t had the greatest time outside the Netherlands. This is true. But to say that Louis van Gaal’s career was a failure? This leads me to believe that you have no idea what you are talking about. His many accolades, his Champions League title, Manager of the Year awards, not just in the Netherlands and France Football’s 18th greatest manager of all time (2019). Not to mention his 3rd place finish in 2014 at the World Cup. Failure? Please, define your interpretation of the word.
Has to be Van Gaal. So much young talent in the squad need a master like Van Gaal. He will get the best out of them and balance playing with freedom and winning matches. Frank De Boer may be better suited to international management but still probably too young in all honesty. Ten Cate not experienced or successful enough as a manager himself – especially when compared to LVG
