PSV Eindhoven midfielder Bart Ramselaar netted as Netherlands U21’s began their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw against England.

Art Langeler’s side began strongly against an England side which featured several of the U20 squad which became World Champions earlier this summer. However, in the 12th minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin raced onto a Ademola Lookman pass before slotting past Joel Drommel to give England the lead.

Netherlands responded with several attempts on the English goal including a Steven Bergwijn effort which came off the bar. Eventually, in the 32nd minute Bart Ramselaar rose to head an excellent Thomas Ouwejan cross into the net to equalise.

In the second half, Netherlands put pressure on the England defence, but despite the introduction of Richairo Zivkovic, they could not find a winner.

Next up for Jong Oranje is a trip to Scotland on Tuesday, while England face Latvia.
