For the second year in a row, Netherlands U17’s will face Italy in the European Championship final after the young Oranje side defeated Spain 1-0.

Peter van der Veen’s side reached the semi-finals after a convincing 3-0 win over Belgium on Monday that set up a showdown with Spain, who needed penalties to overcome Hungary.

The game was tense and even throughout but Naci Unuvar came close to breaking the deadlock in the 75th minute with a strike against the bar.

It seemed extra time was inevitable but in the 89th minute, AZ Alkmaar midfielder Mohamed Taabouni sealed Netherlands place in the final with a curled effort from the edge of the box.

Netherlands will now look to beat Italy for the second year in a row when the two nations go head to head on Sunday.
