Netherlands were joint top of their elite round group with Germany on four points heading into the tie between the two sides, but Jano Baxmann’s 25 minute goal was enough for the Germans to seal top spot and achieve automatic qualification for this summer’s tournament, which will be held in Azerbaijan.
However, with Slovakia hammering Bulgaria 3-0 in the group’s other tie, Netherlands have also sealed their place at the tournament as one of the best seven runners up.
The tournament takes place between the 5th and 21st of May.
Netherlands have made nine previous appearances at the tournament, winning it in 2011 and 2012.
