Netherlands U19’s made an excellent start to their 2020 European Championship qualifiers with a simple 5-0 win over Moldova.

In Latvia, Netherlands take part in a mini group containing themselves, the hosts, Moldova and Israel, with the top two progressing to the elite round.

Moldova were Netherlands first opponents and Maarten Stekelenburg’s strong side made no mistake in a simple win.

Feyenoord midfielder Wouter Burger opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg made it 2-0 six minutes later.

In the second half, Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee made it 3-0 before a double from Hertha Berlin’s Daishawn Redan sealed the victory.

On Friday, Netherlands face Latvia before a meeting with Israel three days later.
