Netherlands U21’s got their 2017 European Championship qualifying campaign underway with a 4-0 win over Cyprus U21’s.

oranje u21Fred Grim took charge of the Jong Oranje for the first time since becoming coach earlier this summer, and his challenge to take Netherlands U21’s to Poland in 2017 began with a simple win over Cyprus.

After only four minutes Netherlands opened the scoring with Groningen right back Hans Hateboer converting Jean Paul Boetius corner. On 23 minutes Vincent Janssen raced onto Nathan Ake’s pass before smashing his shot into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Eight minutes into the second half Riechedly Bazoer placed a shot into the bottom corner for a third, and Janssen sealed the victory on 66 minutes with his second.

A good start for Grim, who’s side now take on Turkey’s U21’s next Tuesday.
