Art Langeler took charge of his first U21 game since taking over from Fred Grim and he saw his side take charge from the beginning as they went in search of a much-needed victory. Jong Oranje created several chances in the first half but struggled in front of goal, with Riechedly Bazoer going closest with a strike that hit the post and landed in the goalkeepers arms.
After the break, the game continued in the same pattern with Netherlands fully in control and Turkey looking to play on the counter. Langeler threw on Steven Bergwijn in hope of finding that crucial opening goal, but it was Turkey who went closest to breaking the deadlock as Kenan Karaman shot over the bar with the goal gaping.
The draw means Slovakia have been confirmed as the group winner and automatically qualify for the Euros. Netherlands are now relying on being one of the top four best runners-up, but are currently eighth out of nine in that list with only one game remaining. In five days Netherlands travel to Cyprus hoping for a miracle.
