Wiegman, who became head coach in January 2017, successfully won Euro 2017 and reached the final of the World Cup in 2019.

She will tough to replace, but will only leave after leading Oranje through the Olympics, which take place next summer.

“The ride with the Oranje Lionesses has been amazing so far, but we haven’t reached our final destination yet,” she said.

“For now, I am 100% focused on Oranje. I will do my utmost to add another chapter to their remarkable journey before making my next step.”
