Netherlands women defeated Mexico 2-0 in friendly staged at Vitesse’s Stadium Gelredome.

Coach Sarina Wiegman is preparing for this summer’s World Cup with the games against Mexico and Chile.

Netherlands were disappointing during the recent Algarve Cup, but they proved to have too much for Mexico on Friday night.

Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema netted her 56th international goal to break the deadlock midway through the first half. Barcelona’s Lieke Martens curled in an excellent strike to make it 2-0 before the break.

In the second half, Netherlands remained in full control but failed to add any further goals. On Tuesday they face Chile.
