Sources have apparently revealed to NOS that there will be clarity by the end of this week with Dick Advocaat the slight favourite ahead of Henk Ten Cate.
KNVB director Hans van Breukelen held talks with both Advocaat and Ten Cate last week and is currently deciding on who should get the role. If he picks Advocaat then van Breukelen will need to give his reasons to Kevin Strootman, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder, who according to NOS have voiced their disapproval at the current Fenerbahce boss returning to the national team.
Advocaat was named as an assistant to Danny Blind with the national team last year but after only three months left to take a lucrative contract in Turkey. That has not been forgotten in certain areas of the Oranje camp.
No please
this is ridiculous these two are main candidate for national team, there are many more coaches which are better than them, by these candidates I dont think they are going to make WC 2018.
Everybody else dropped out, they are too young and want to focus on club football. I would prefer ten Cate, if it is down to these two with Ruud Gullit as the assistant, maybe keep Grim, but I’m not too sure on him either. Frank Rijkaard is another good choice and he seems to be looking for work, maybe save him from going to Thailand. Personally, I think that even if you already have a club team, you should be able to coach the national team and the KNVB could approach anyone (Koeman, van Bronkhorst, Cocu) and they could accept without leaving their parent club.
it is a step back to appoint advocaat his coaching carrer is average and not that good and he was about to regelated with sunderland and they fired him and now with fenerbache he is third i think and awful europa league performance
ten cate i dont know anything about him but his name is not that good that anyone know him i think these two candidates are not the best option
