According to The Times, Newcastle United are hoping to sign Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij from Internazionale in January.

With the takeover recently being completed, Newcastle United is set to enter the January transfer window with a lot of money as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Times is reporting that Newcastle is set to make a bid to sign De Vrij as they look to bolster their defence. Marcelo Brozovic of Inter is also a target, as is goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha of SS Lazio.
De Vrij is a key player for Inter Milan, but he has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur with his former head coach Antonio Conte now in charge of the Premier League side.
