mempReports in France had linked Nice with an audacious move for the 22-year-old, but with Jose Mourinho ruling out a loan exit for Memphis, the chances of the Ligue 1 side signing the Dutch international are now gone.

President Jean-Pierre Rivere confirmed to RMC that they wanted to sign the winger, but a permanent deal is not financially viable for the club.

He said, “We wanted to have him and have also watched him, like many other clubs. But it is extremely complicated.

“Memphis is not financially viable for us, as simple as that.”

Everton are still the favourites to sign Memphis this month, but Porto, Roma, AC Milan, Tottenham and Fenerbahce have also been linked.
