According to Bild, Bundesliga side FC Mainz 05 are set to sign free agent Nigel de Jong.

The 33-year-old had his contract with Galatsaray dissolved on Friday making him a free agent.
A move back to Ajax has been rumoured but it appears that De Jong is on his way to Germany with Mainz 05. Bild is reporting that well established sources have told them that negotiations between the club and player are almost complete.
Mainz 05 currently sit 15th in the Bundesliga and hope that the signing of De Jong can help them steer away from relegation.
De Jong had previously played in the Bundesliga with Hamburg. He has also represented Ajax, Manchester City, AC Milan, and LA Galaxy before he joined Galatasaray in 2016.
