Luc Nilis has left his role as assistant coach with VVV-Venlo after two years with the club.

The 52-year-old Belgian worked as a striker trainer with PSV for six years before becoming an assistant with VVV. He has now left the club.

VVV technical manager Stan Valckx told the club’s website that Nilis leaving is due to the corona virus crisis, “It is a pity that we now have to say goodbye to him, forced by this unpleasant situation. But in this difficult time, the budget for players and staff will have to be critically examined and that unfortunately involves difficult considerations and decisions such as this one. “

Nilis said, “The situation for professional football is not rosy at all due to the corona crisis. I fully understand that. VVV will need all the resources to keep the selection up to standard.”

The former PSV and Anderlecht forward is now looking for a new challenge. He has told Sporza that a return to Anderlecht is a possibility or a return in some role to PSV.
