FC Groningen director Mark-Jan Fledderus gave an update on the interest in right-back Deyovaisio Zeefuik.

The right-back has been heavily linked with a move away from the Euroborg this summer with Hertha Berlin and Southampton the most concrete.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Fledderus appeared to state that Zeefuik would rather join Hertha Berlin but an agreement had not been reached with the Bundesliga side.

He said on Hertha, “It is my impression that they still want it, but at the moment we are not yet together. They will have to reach an agreement with FC Groningen.”

Southampton were willing to meet Groningen’s asking price, “But in the end, the player must also want to go there, otherwise you still have nothing.”

Will Zeefuik stay at Groningen?, “Deyo has a contract with us for eleven months. We would prefer to keep him: I tried to renew, but he didn’t want that and I understand that too. If you see him playing tonight, he is ready for the next step. “
